FAQs

During the removal of wisdom teeth, patients are not expected to experience pain since the area will be anesthetized. However, if there is any discomfort or pain felt during the procedure, it is essential to inform the dentist or oral surgeon so that they can administer anaesthesia accordingly.

Your dentist will provide you with specific aftercare instructions, which may include taking over-the-counter pain medication, applying ice packs, and avoiding hard or crunchy foods.

The duration of a wisdom tooth extraction can vary based on several factors such as the number and location of the teeth, as well as the complexity of the procedure. Typically, a single wisdom tooth extraction can take approximately 20-40 minutes to complete, while the extraction of multiple teeth may take longer. However, it is essential to note that the actual duration of the procedure may differ depending on individual circumstances and the type of anesthesia used. Your dentist can provide you with a more accurate estimate based on your specific case.

As with any surgical procedure, there are some risks associated with wisdom tooth extraction. These can include bleeding, infection, nerve damage, and dry socket (a painful condition that occurs when the blood clot in the extraction site becomes dislodged). However, these risks are relatively rare, and most people experience a smooth recovery after their wisdom tooth extraction.

The recovery time after a wisdom tooth extraction can vary depending on the person and the complexity of the extraction. In general, you can expect to experience some pain, swelling, and bleeding for the first few days after the procedure. Your dentist will provide you with specific aftercare instructions, including how to manage any pain or discomfort, how to clean your mouth, and when to return for a follow-up appointment.

The duration of medical leave given to a patient after a wisdom tooth surgery typically varies depending on the dentist. In most cases, patients are granted a medical certificate for around 5 days, but if multiple teeth are extracted during the same appointment, additional leave may be provided as needed.
